Past and Ongoing Projects

-
study of mathematics and cybernetics at the University of Freiberg (GDR) from 1974 to 1979; wrote stuff in Algol68 and Assembler;
-
system software developer for main frames of the so called ESER project, EC 1040 and EC 1056 at the Karl-Marx-University of Leipzig (GDR);
btw: the EC 1040 and EC 1056 have been clones and also known as IBM /360 and IBM /370 ... :-)
-
test and improvement of PSU (a UNIX-like system for EC 1040 mainframes)
-
port of fortran 77 compiler to PSU
-
teaching UNIX shell and internals, C programing laguage and IBM operating system stuff to students at the University of Leipzig;
-
porting UNIX to mainframes (member of the university project "VMX - A Virtual Machine UNIX for EC 1056 main frames");
-
foundation member of the organization GUUG/east (the German UNIX User Group of the GDR) and later vice-chairman of the GUUG in 1996/97.

starting work in 1990 for the company SOFTCON and later on for its spin-off Sisis in Munich (Germany);

design and implementation of a GUI written in C, X11 toolkit and OSF/Motif for a geographical information system

design and implementation of optical storage archive systems, written in C;

in charge for SOFTCON's development groups and later for all the Sisis technical team, i.e. Technical Manager of Sisis

my very brand new "toy" in 2002: the City-library of Esslingen (Germany) runs a bus in which reader can borrow books and the computer system in the bus as a library branch is online connected with the central system using GPRS (part of mobile spec GSM); here you can see me with the happy customers:
